Heat, not the pan. The cooling fan under the glass packs with dust and kitchen grease and the inverter protects itself. Cabinet airflow behind the unit matters as much as the fan.

A welded relay. Switch that circuit off at the breaker until it is dealt with — an element stuck on is the one fault worth being blunt about.
